SAN DIEGO, CA – Cathy Guttman, VP of Home Health at Medocity, and Dr. Robert Rosati, VP of Research and Quality and Chair of the Connected Health Institute at the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, presented preliminary results from their virtual care pilot at the Home Based Care National Leadership Conference held April 19th -21st in San Diego. Their findings indicated utilizing Medocity Home Health significantly increased engagement and satisfaction with VNAHG patients. With the availability of televisits/video calling, messaging, and condition-specific resources, patients felt more connected to their nurse and more informed about their condition. The nurses also benefited from improved direct-to-patient communication as well as the ability to remotely monitor their patient’s clinical condition.

During the Q&A period Guttman stressed, “Patient engagement is a two-way street, and state of the art technology on its own isn’t the answer. Patients are more motivated when clinicians are actively engaging with them regardless, and our platform helps facilitate and amplify this effect.”

Medocity Home Health is built to be a robust interactive ecosystem – intentionally designed to make it easy for clinicians to access and communicate seamlessly with their patients and caregivers. Ms. Guttman also addressed several audience questions drawing from Medocity’s experiences with their current client base, stating, “While there are several factors driving patient engagement, a key driver is ‘easy to use connectivity’ between patients, caregivers and care professionals. If clinicians need to switch to another platform to message a patient or connect via a televisit, the dynamics of interactive virtual care is lost or at best interrupted.”
